World Rowing Champs 2010

Currently the World Rowing Champs are underway at Lake Karapiro. The spotlight is on New Zealand as viewers around the world follow the progress of their rowing crews. This is a fantastic opportunity to show case New Zealand on the international stage. Unfortunately the event attracted some unwanted publicity even before it had begun.   2. I am writing from the point of view of the Austrain Rowers.

    I am very disappointed at the loss of my rowing gear.New Zealand once seemed like a beautiful welcoming, friendly country, but now it seems a bit dodgy. I think NZ need to boost their security and I hope an incident like this will not occur again. NZ have potrayed themselves to be a great country and have worked tirelessly to provide hospitality. It is very unfortunate that a couple of people have given them bad publicity and portrayed them to be theifs, when the majority of New Zealanders are kind and freindly

  3. Emma, as an Austrian crew member, you have been very generous about the spirit of New Zealander's, given that you have been adversely affected by the behaviour of some of them. Austrians must be very forgiving. I do hope the real Austrian crew members have given New Zealand and its residents the same benefit of the doubt.
